Hi, I’m Violet and I live in Liverpool, England with a pair of ridiculously tiny dogs and a terrifyingly vocal cat.

Having always been fascinated by history and mythology, I eventually figured out how to combine them into an Actual Job. Which is lucky, because I am otherwise utterly unemployable.

Prior to publishing The Netherweird Chronicles, I was a freelance journalist. I’ve also written three history books: Sex and Sexuality in Victorian Britain, A History of the Vampire in Popular Culture and Sex, Drugs and Proxy Rule: Secrets and Scandals in Regency Britain.

Oh and I once got turned down for a job as an undertaker’s assistant for being ‘too knowledgeable about death’. Which is quite an achievement.
